Job Title: Art Director – Visual Communication & Marketing

Location: Mumbai (On-site at Polite Society)

Reporting To: Founder & CEO

Role Overview

Polite Society is looking for an Art Director to lead the brand’s visual communication and marketing direction. This role sits at the intersection of design, storytelling, and strategy - responsible not only for shaping the way the brand looks but also how it connects with its community.

Key Responsibilities

• Visual Direction & Storytelling

• Define and oversee the brand’s visual identity across campaigns, social media, website, packaging, retail, and events.

• Conceptualize and direct shoots and brand films — from moodboards to on-set direction and post-production.

• Develop strong visual narratives that highlight collections, product drops, and brand stories.

Marketing & Brand Building

• Collaborate with the marketing team to design omni-channel campaigns (social media, retail, digital, print, PR).

• Build content strategies that strengthen community engagement and drive sales, while maintaining brand integrity.

• Identify and execute collaborations with artists, creatives, and lifestyle brands that align with Polite Society’s ethos.

• Conceptualize and oversee brand activations, pop-ups, and cultural events that extend the brand beyond clothing.

• Partner with performance marketing and e-commerce teams to ensure campaigns balance creativity with commercial goals.

Team & Collaboration

• Lead and manage creative freelancers (photographers, stylists, graphic designers, set designers, videographers).

• Collaborate closely with the founder and design team to ensure brand philosophy and product align with marketing narratives.

• Act as a cultural scout — staying ahead of trends in fashion, art, design, and youth culture to keep Polite Society visually relevant and aspirational.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in art direction, brand building, or creative strategy within fashion, lifestyle, or design-driven industries.

• Strong portfolio showing ability to merge visual identity with marketing strategy.

• Proven experience in campaign ideation, execution, and amplification across digital + offline channels.

• Network or experience working with collaborators (artists, musicians, brands, cultural spaces) is a strong plus.

• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere/After Effects).

• Strong sense of global culture, fashion, and creative communities.

• Ability to balance conceptual thinking with hands-on execution and project management.
