Motion Graphics Artist (Freelance / Contract)

We are looking for a Motion Graphics Artist to create a polished and engaging How to Play video for our upcoming arena-based expandable card game.

The video will primarily involve animating existing 2D game assets, cards, illustrations, icons, and UI elements to clearly explain gameplay systems, player actions, and game flow. The goal is to create an instructional video that is both easy to follow and visually exciting.

Responsibilities

• Animate existing 2D game assets and artwork to create an engaging instructional video.

• Design motion graphics that effectively communicate game mechanics and rules.

• Create transitions, camera movements, visual effects, and UI animations that enhance clarity and viewer engagement.

• Collaborate with the game design team to accurately represent gameplay systems.

• Integrate voiceover, text callouts, and other visual aids as required.

• Deliver project files and final rendered outputs according to production specifications.

Requirements

• Strong portfolio demonstrating motion graphics, explainer videos, trailers, or game-related content.

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects.

• Working proficiency in Blender, particularly for camera movement, scene composition, and the integration of 2D assets within a 3D space.

• Experience animating cards, UI elements, icons, illustrations, and infographic-style content.

• Strong understanding of timing, pacing, composition, and visual storytelling.

• Ability to work with layered Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent source files.

• Ability to take creative ownership while maintaining fidelity to game rules and mechanics.

Nice to Have

• Experience creating board game, tabletop game, or trading card game trailers and tutorials.

• Familiarity with competitive strategy games, card games, or MOBA-inspired mechanics.

• Experience with sound design integration and video editing.

• Experience creating motion graphics for crowdfunding campaigns or product launches.

Deliverables

• One completed "How to Play" video.

• All source files, including After Effects and Blender project files.

• Exported video files in agreed formats and resolutions.

• Any custom motion graphic assets created during production.
