About Trestle
At Trestle, we believe design is a balance of form, material, proportion, and feeling. Our work is rooted in thoughtful furniture design, where detail, craftsmanship, and material honesty define value.
As we expand our design team, we aim to strengthen new product development and deepen material and process exploration, and their application through fresh perspectives.
Role Overview
We are looking for Product Designers with a mature design sensibility and a strong passion for furniture design. This role is ideal for designers who want to grow within a design-led furniture brand and gain hands-on exposure to the complete design journey — from concept development and material exploration to detailing, prototyping, and production.
The designers will work under and closely with the Head Designer, who will guide the overall design direction, review work at each stage, and help achieve the desired design outcomes. Designers will also collaborate with the core design team, factory, and vendors to develop products aligned with Trestle’s design language and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
Contribute to new furniture design development from concept stage through final production.
Explore forms, proportions, construction methods, and detailing relevant to contemporary and luxury furniture design.
Develop designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, material logic, and manufacturability.
Material & Detail Exploration
Actively participate in material, finish, and CMF exploration, understanding how material choices influence the final design outcome.
Work at a component and detail level, ensuring designs are well-resolved beyond visual appeal.
Drawings & Documentation
Prepare graphical line drawings, intent drawings, and coordination documents in collaboration with senior designers and factory teams.
Create final design catalogues, product renders, approval documents, and design presentations for internal and external use.
Prototyping & Factory Coordination
Coordinate with the factory during prototyping, sampling, and detailing stages.
Participate in reviewing production drawings, prototypes, and samples to ensure design intent is maintained.
Be involved in problem-solving with the factory to achieve design intent rather than dilute it.
Brand & Design Alignment
Work within Trestle’s established design language, while contributing fresh thinking and new perspectives.
Support the design team in reviewing market-facing content to ensure alignment with product intent.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Product Design / Industrial Design / Furniture Design or equivalent.
3–4 years of experience in furniture or product design (fresh graduates with exceptional portfolios may also be considered).
Strong understanding of furniture design fundamentals — proportions, ergonomics, materials, and construction logic — aligned with the luxury furniture market.
Proficiency in CAD and 3D tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, 3DS Max).
Working knowledge of rendering tools (KeyShot) and visual communication workflows.
Proficiency in presentation and documentation tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to support design processes.
Ability to read, interpret, and develop technical drawings.
Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and work closely with the factory team.
Desired Mindset & Traits
Strong design sensitivity and attention to detail.
Genuine interest in furniture, materials, and craftsmanship beyond surface-level styling.
Curious, hands-on, and open to learning through experimentation and prototyping.
Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating designs multiple times.
Collaborative attitude with clear communication skills.
Patience and persistence to resolve complex design and production challenges.
What We Offer
Opportunity to work on original furniture designs from concept to production.
Direct exposure to material exploration, prototyping, and real manufacturing processes.
A learning-focused environment that encourages growth, experimentation, and refinement of design thinking.
Long-term growth opportunities within a design-led furniture brand.
