The Opportunity:
We’re hiring a thumbnail designer for high-production YouTube podcasts.
This is not a plug-and-play design role. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end thumbnail creation from selecting the right frames to delivering final designs.
What you’ll do:
Design 2–4 thumbnail variants per episode (for A/B testing)
Source and select frames/screenshots yourself from episode footage
Deliver within tight timelines (24–48 hours)
Handle fast iterations and multiple revision rounds
What we’re looking for:
Strong understanding of YouTube thumbnail psychology (scroll-stopping, hierarchy, contrast)
Ability to identify the right frame/moment from raw footage
Ability to execute clean, premium, editorial design (NOT clickbait / MrBeast-style)
Excellent typography (bold, readable, minimal)
Strong sense of layout, spacing, and visual hierarchy
Experience with:
Subject cutouts
Background replacement
Integrating AI-generated backgrounds with real photos
Tools:
Photoshop (must be proficient)
Communication (Critical):
Fast, clear communication is non-negotiable
Able to respond quickly, give updates, and meet short deadlines
Can understand feedback and iterate without excessive back-and-forth
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative workflow
Nice to have:
Experience designing for podcasts / interview-style content
Portfolio with YouTube thumbnails specifically
Understanding of thumbnail A/B testing & CTR optimization
Deliverables:
2–4 thumbnails (1280x720)
1 RSS Version
Fast turnaround + responsiveness to revisions is critical
If you rely on provided screenshots or need heavy direction, this won’t be a fit.
If you can own the thumbnail from concept → frame → final execution, we want to see your work.
