The Opportunity:

Company: Henry Labs
About Henry Labs:
Henry Labs is building the infrastructure layer for agentic commerce — enabling AI agents and affiliate platforms to complete purchases on behalf of users through real merchant checkout flows.
Our core product is an embedded checkout experience (think Shop Pay / Stripe Link, but designed for AI-initiated transactions) that prioritizes trust, speed, and clarity across thousands of merchants.
Design is central to our moat. We’re looking for a designer who can help us define how checkout should feel in a world where AI acts on a user’s behalf.
The Role:
We’re looking for a Product Designer to own the design of our checkout modal and core product surfaces. This is not a “make it pretty” role — you’ll be shaping flows that sit at the intersection of payments, trust, automation, and UX.
You’ll work closely with the founders and front-end engineers to go from PRD → research → concepts → production-ready designs, and help define design patterns that scale across merchants and use cases.
What You’ll Do:
Design the Henry Labs checkout modal, drawing inspiration from products like Shop Pay and Stripe Link while pushing toward a more modern, elegant, and agent-native experience
Own design end-to-end: research, ideation, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, interaction states, and edge cases
Translate PRDs into thoughtful UX flows, while also challenging assumptions and proposing better solutions
Conduct lightweight design research (competitive analysis, user journey mapping, trust cues, UX heuristics)
Partner closely with front-end engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and production-ready
Define and evolve design systems, components, and interaction patterns as the product matures
Design for complex constraints: security, trust, payments, latency, and automation — without sacrificing elegance
What We’re Looking For:
Strong product intuition and deep understanding of user experience, especially in high-trust flows (checkout, payments, authentication, onboarding)
Ability to work independently from a PRD, sourcing your own inspiration and forming clear design opinions
High bar for visual design, typography, spacing, and interaction polish
Technically fluent — comfortable discussing implementation details with front-end engineers and understanding constraints
Experience designing production software (B2B, fintech, consumer, or infra-adjacent products is a plus)
Clear communicator who can explain design decisions and tradeoffs
Nice to Have:
Experience designing checkout, payments, fintech, or identity flows
Familiarity with design systems and component-driven design
Experience working at startups or on early-stage products
Comfort designing for both consumer and developer-adjacent surfaces
Tools
Figma (required)
Comfort collaborating with engineers using modern front-end stacks (React, component libraries, etc.)
Why This Role Is Interesting
You’ll help define a new category of checkout UX for AI-driven commerce
High ownership and direct access to founders
Designs you ship will be used across thousands of merchants
Opportunity to grow into a lead designer / design owner role as the company scales
